Purpose of This Template
This Dignity of Risk Position Statement Template is designed to support Occupational Therapists in clearly articulating their professional stance on autonomy, safety, and clinical decision‑making within community aged care. It provides a structured way to effectively manage expectations and communicate their commitment to dignity of risk while outlining the boundaries created by clinical reasoning, program rules, and regulatory obligations.

Clarifies the role of Occupational Therapy in supporting autonomy, participation, and informed choice
Outlines the principles and limits of dignity of risk in OT practice
Demonstrates alignment with the AHPRA Code of Conduct, Occupational Therapy competency standards, duty of care obligations and Support at Home program requirements
Provides a defensible framework for responding to requests for non‑indicated or unsafe assistive technology or home modifications 
Supports consistent messaging to participants, families, and providers
